Cloudjumper
Nicholas Cliff
PERSONALITY Nic is generally seen as a refined, somewhat cold being who holds himself above others. However, he is actually quite caring and kind, often going out of his way to help others even when it seems out of character for him to do so. He is strong willed and someone who is willing to put everything on the line for something he believes in. His determined attitude is what creates his aura of superiority. That and his tendency to arch an eyebrow at people when they do something he considers strange. When people get to know him, and get past that outward barrier of his, they find a warm and happy man who is very loving and generous. He is happy to share what he has with those he considers friends and family, and is also happy to defend them with his life should he need to. Being a dragon, his concept of friend and foe is pretty general, so once your put on one list or the other, you tend to stay there. It's very hard to restore broken trust with Nic, though it's not impossible. Fish helps- he's very fond of fish and all dishes relating to it. As a human, Nic has learned more and more about opening up to others, and sharing his kindness with more than just those whom he deems worthy of protection. Still, he can come across as quite sarcastic at times, and his dry sense of humor doesn't often help make him seem like a personable sort. But he's trying. HISTORY Cloudjumper was born a dragon in the mountains of Arendelle, where he lived in the cold most of his life. He loved the chilly weather, but generally kept to himself as he grew, though he knew there was a human kingdom nearby and that humans were highly curious creatures. Eventually, as he got older and more bold, his curiosity over-powered his need to hide himself away, and he used his magic to give himself the shape of a human. As a human, he often explored the kingdom of Arendelle, though still he did not allow himself to open up too much to people. He did, however, learn English in his time there as well as a few things about human culture in general. He found he really enjoyed cooking, and spent a lot of time watching chefs in the kingdom at work. When he came of mating age, he left Arendelle briefly and visited to Enchanted Forest nearby to find a female dragon to mate with. It was his instincts that drew him to the magical realm, as there were no other dragons that he knew of in his home. He did manage to meet a dragonic woman, though he knew her situation was the reverse of his- she was a woman who could take the form of a dragon, not a dragon that pretended to be human. Still, he enjoyed his company with her and had *a good time* while they were together. Eventually, though, he left again, his instincts fulfilled and his dragon mind telling him to get back home. He never told the female his name, and he wasn't sure he would ever see her again. Years went by and Cloudjumper remained in Arendelle. He had turned from his need to hide from the town and had instead taken to protecting it from afar. However, a queen with ice powers eventually came into power, and she proved more than capable of looking after her home. At that point, Cloudjumper decided to return to the Enchanted Forest, to seek out more of his own kind and see what they did once their personal missions came to an end. It was then that he ended up stuck in the curse that brought them to Storybrooke. There, he became Nicholas Cliff, a local fisherman and occasional cook at Granny's Diner. He lived unaware that he had the powers of a dragon until his memory was restored. Nicholas has the power to transform into his large dragon form, where he can shoot fireballs and fly with extreme accuracy. He has four wings and thick back legs, as well as a massive body and long, fanned tail for navigation. (Dragon appearance) In his human form he retains some super strength and speed, as well as the ability to summon and shoot fireballs. But his magic is extremely limited in his human form, and he must transform to show his true power. RP SAMPLE Nicholas was happy when he didn't have to be in his human form. While he had gotten very used to staying in such a state, he certainly liked his dragon form better, so he was happy when he could slip away from the town and transform himself into his proper, dragon body. He was a large creature, so of course he needed to be careful not to accidentally frighten anyone, but there was enough room around the town, but still within the barrier, for him to spend a little time to himself without fear of someone finding him and thinking he was some kind of threat. With all the monsters invading the town, it would definitely be a bad time to attempt explaining what he was to people. He transformed himself with a cloud of red smoke, his form growing as human arms split into two pairs of massive wings. His neck grew longer, a tail extending from behind as his whole body turned vibrant greens, oranges and reds. His yellow eyes flashed as he raised his large head and let out a massive roar. Of course, he cut himself short, realizing that he probably shouldn't be shouting his happiness to the heavens. Still, it felt nice to be in his proper form. Snarling, the large creature pushed off the ground, swooping into the air effortlessly. He used just two of his wings, the other pair tucked at his sides. He only used those when he needed to- a normal fly required only two wings. He decided to keep his flight short and only around the forest, so he avoided the chance of someone seeing him. Perhaps he ought to visit Rumplestiltskin at some point- allegedly he had the means to use great magic on people. There was a chance he could ask the man to give him something that would turn him invisible. Then he could fly all over the skies without worry. But one thing at a time. Perhaps he would help with the Underworld problem first, and then try thinking about himself. To worry about his own concerns when those around him were suffering was a selfish thing indeed. He soared just above the trees for a while, just enjoying the air until he finally needed to land again. Stomping down in a clearing, he hunched on his large back legs, his head tilting in an owl-like fashion as he looked around. Somehow, it felt like he might not have been alone there... |
